• Tank to store and heat water.

• Dip tube for collecting cold water at the bottom.

Common Water Heater Problems

Water heaters are in use almost all the time, so they need regular maintenance. The following are the common problems that indicate you need home water heater repair:

1. Heating Problem

If your heater isn’t heating water properly, it may be due to faulty heating elements, such as a tripped switch or a failure in the heating system. Check the heater’s circuit and make sure it hasn’t tripped. If it is tripped, turn it back on. Otherwise, reset the temperature.

2. Thermostat

Another issue can be with the thermostat. Every heater has two thermostats for each heating part. If any of these stop working, water will not get heated efficiently. This issue can be solved by replacing the thermostat.

3. Anode Rod

Sometimes corrosion in the tank can also lead to a water heater issue. The anode rod in the heater prevents rusting of the tank, but sometimes it gradually wears out and needs replacement.

4. Dip Tube

If the dip tube isn’t working right, it will not transfer cold water from the top of the tank to the bottom for reheating.

5. Pressure Valve

This valve lets out extra pressure because if the tank’s pressure is too high, it will cause the valve to leak.
